Carey and Martha Jo Berger are our owners. Carey is president of the Business Service Resource Group, a consulting firm specialized in assisting family-owned businesses. Martha Jo has been working on numerous other projects with him as the acting CFO, and otherwise comes from an engineering and design background. Although they are the owners, their primary role here has been to enable their son’s by providing support, and financial assistance, with the struggles of getting a business started.
Joey Berger is our Director of Operations. Joey has a background in business management and operations. He worked for over 10 years at movie theaters where he gained practice with customer service, employee management, and total store operations as he was steadily promoted to general manager during his time there. He received a BGS in Psychology with a Minor in Business from the University of Kansas in 2015. Joey decided to switch away from theaters and open a store with the help of his parents in 2016 to develop his skills further, and so he could move closer to his family again. He has been the leader in charge of making our stores successful since before they even opened.
Jeff Malone is our Assistant Director. Jeff has a background in civil engineering and previously worked in the mining industry in Nevada. He graduated with a BS in Structural Civil Engineering from Washington State University in 2010. He decided to try something new and changed careers when Joey asked if he would like to be his second-in-command in 2016. Jeff has been assisting Joey with all facets of regular store operations and management responsibilities since before the stores were opened.
Le Cairns is our Store Manager for Berger Convenience and Spirits. Le has experience in many different job and school environments and brings the talents learned there to the workplace. She joined our team in July 2020 and has worked her way up steadily by proactively taking responsibility and working hard. Le wouldn’t have anticipated that this would be the path her career took, but we’re glad to have her.
Jenna Locke is our Store Manager for Berger Concessions. She has experience in many different job environments and has previously operated her own business. Jenna joined our team in April 2022 and quickly assumed the management position for the concessions stand we operate. She has been learning the job quickly as we’ve worked through the first soccer season together.
